Great things in Garden Valley!

What great things God is blessing us with in Garden Valley, Texas! We have moved into a beautiful, spacious, lake-side rental suite in the Garden Valley community nearby Youth with a Mission (YWAM) Tyler! God spoke to us about spending some time equipping and preparing at the YWAM Tyler missionary base, and we can certainly see why: as we are pursuing God’s vision for us in Science and Technology, we’ve seen God’s hand all over dozens of “divine appointments”. We call events “divine appointments” when our chance encounters lead us to conversations with people who share our vision, express an interest in working with our projects, share a word of encouragement, or exchange something of life-changing significance with us. We’ve joined a club of other like-minded missionaries who meet monthly to discuss the use of Technology to serve and share Christ Jesus. We’ve met a couple of young people who are interested in joining our team to Toronto. We’ve even discussed partnering with another Ministry Group on a project to spread God’s love to children online. We’re still at the drawing board with all of these discussions, but they are all just too amazing and encouraging to just be chance. We KNOW God has sent us here for His purposes, because 8th Sphere is His ministry! We’ve discussed with our YWAM Tyler leadership the possibilities of launching a our new ministry under their direction and we look forward to what the future has in store for 8th Sphere!

God has also plugged us into a couple of jobs in some very needy departments at YWAM Tyler. A couple weeks after Daniel started in the Ministry Information Systems (IT) Department, the only other two staff in his department had to rush off for personal emergencies and obligations. This left Daniel as the only full-time staff in his department for nearly a month! And a couple weeks after Candice started all her co-workers left to other ministry locations and Candice was asked to take over teaching the Preschool, the night before her duties began! Needless to say, we’ve been busy! We’ve started to figure our way out as we’ve had the honor of taking on these new responsibilities. We are loving the opportunity to be Christ’s hands and feet, offering necessary support to this large base which trains hundreds of students every year on how “To Know God and Make Him Known” (YWAM’s motto). It’s been neat to see this missionary base from the perspective of staff, as it was just one year ago that we were students at this very base. On a personal note, we recently had a tremendous celebration for our 10th Anniversary and our little Ēlie is happy and healthy in mommy’s Preschool class- Praise God!

Sure, everything hasn’t been a bed of roses, we’ve had our fair share of stressful days, heated arguments, and health problems, but through it all we see God teaching us and growing us as individuals. This kind of growth is exactly what is needed to equip and prepare us as the 8th Sphere Missions team. Praise God for grace and forgiveness from God, each other, our daughter, and our fellow missionaries!
